The CHOICE service trip in early September is the most important and exciting event on our annual calendar. Every year a group of volunteers join CHOICE and dedicate part of their summer towards charitable work, specifically to improve children education in less developed south-east Asian countries. We are delighted to announce that this year we have partnered with Aide et Action, and will be organising a trip to Vientiane, Laos. During our 8-day trip, we will be spending time teaching English in Sithong Secondary School, in addition to exploring sights around the relaxed and friendly Laotian capital and visiting local NGOs.
What makes CHOICE trip unique is that it’s not just about teaching children and improving access to basic education. This trip is about you, the volunteers, as much as it is about the children in Laos. Of course, during the trip we will make the best use of our time in Vientiane to achieve the cause of CHOICE, but it is equally important that we, as teenagers who are receiving privileged tertiary education, can develop a sense of perspective and appreciate what we already have, or even take for granted. The trip is an excellent opportunity to extend your understanding of the world, and to reflect on issues like inequality, education and human development.
If you share our passion in making the world a better place through children’s education, do not miss out on joining the unforgettable, fun and meaningful CHOICE trip 2014. Plunge into the intriguing and exciting world of Laos, and contribute towards the goal of universal education! Please approach our committee members if you would like to know more about the trip!
